WHAT? D’Ancona Budis is an art gallery on the vibrant Romanian cultural scene. It is the result of a joint effort of several professionals who want to increase the exposure of artists and the value of art in emerging markets, betting on the longstanding tradition of artistic excellence and on the soundness of strategic investments in art. WHO?The three founders of D’Ancona Budis are executives with established experience in Finance, Marketing and Communi-cations. Michelle D’Ancona is an executive Director based in Geneva who has been leading a global Swiss private bank and advising private and institutional clients in New York, Rome and Switzerland; Sandra Pralong-Budis is a former Newsweek executive, communications specialist and Goodwill Ambassador for the European Year of Inter-Cultural Dialogue; and Claudio Scorretti is a former gallerist and cultural promoter. WHY?“You wear clothes to cover your body but you put art on your walls to discover your soul” said James Joyce. The D’Ancona Budis Art Gallery seeks to promote modern and contemporary art from emerging markets (East and Central Europe, Brazil, China, India, etc.) on the international scene, banking on the underexposed strength of its artistic message. Owing to the avant-garde tradition of Romanian artists (Brancusi, Brauner, Tzara), we start with Romania, believing that the country’s profound political transformations in the last 50 years offers a multitude of fascinating, original artistic expressions, of which we will select the most representative established or new artists. HOW?The D’Ancona Budis Art Gallery has a presence in Bucharest, Romania and Geneva, Switzerland, and partner galleries in New York and Rome. The Gallery’s scope is to promote its artists in major art capitals such as Berlin, Dubai, London and Paris through selected galleries, museums, private and public institutional collections as well as major international auction houses. The artists offered representation are selected by an Advisory Committee which, in addition to the founders, includes internationally recognized art critics, experts, major collectors and investors in contemporary art. THE “INVESTORS’ CLUB”Beyond enjoying art for the vibrancy of emotion, the Gallery seeks to facilitate approaching art also as an investment. Using our financial expertise, we are creating an “Investors’ Club” whose members will be guided through understanding art valuation and pricing, while also receiving regular updates on artists’ quotations and market activity in the major art centers. WHAT WE STAND FORThe D’Ancona Budis Art Gallery’s mission is to increase the visibility of artists from emerging countries on the international art scene and to provide support to the investor community who values art as a valuable asset class to be passed on from generation to generation. The D’Ancona Bus Art Gallery has five leading principles by which it guides its activities: |
