Bucharest, 2 December, 2010, The new wave of young Romanian painters represented by the D’Ancona Budis Art Gallery of Bucharest, has received considerable attention at St-Art, the Strasbourg Art Fair in France.
Art critics noticed the quality of the works presented by the Gallery, while the international press lavished particular praise on the “troubling oniric atmosfere” of Alina Slimovski’s black and white oils. Slimovski, as well as Alexandra Bodea and Ugron Reka have equally won the hearts of the public, each selling several of their works to French and German art lovers.
According to the Fair’s organisers, the public attention received by the three Romanian painters is quite rare among young artists present for the first time at a fair, especially if they come from a faraway land about which people know very little.
The D’Ancona Budis Art Gallery in Bucharest is a new but noted presence on the Romanian cultural scene, having organized this year a large exhibit of the recent sculptures of Marian Zidaru and featuring the works of famous Japanese painter Toshiko Tochihara in an exhibit coming from New York.
